Best Bright Cellars Promo Code · Bright Cellars Discounts & HistoryBringing a personal touch to wine subscriptions, Bright Cellars was started by two MIT grads who combined their passion for wine and science to create offerings that match each individual's tastes. With wine offerings sourced from around the world, Bright Cellars looks for hidden gems to allow wine experts and novices alike to discover something new. Simply put, Bright Cellars is a wine of the month club. However, instead of just sending you any wine they wish each month, you actually have a say in what wines come your way. The Bright Cellars team is passionate about wine and their goal in creating the subscription service was to allow both wine experts and novices to learn about wine and discover new varieties. Each box features a curated selection of wines that reflect an individual's taste. In the Bright Cellars package, you will receive four wines for $60.
To discover your preferences, Bright Cellars asks you to take their quiz. The answers you give to the very specific questions will help them figure out the various characteristics of wine you'll actually enjoy. Bright Cellars sources wines from around the world. They look for hidden gems that are sourced from smaller vineyards. After you answer Bright Cellars' questions, you are taken to a page where you can create your own Bright Cellars login. With that, you're one click away from being paired with the perfect wines for you. The best part is that you can skip a month any time you feel like it and you can also cancel any time. This isn't like renting a studio apartment and being locked into a year-long lease. If you don't feel like you'll be drinking a ton of wine in July because you'll be doing a lot of grilling and would rather pair that with an IPA, go right ahead. They'll accept you back in August, just in time for the end of Rosé season.

About Bright Cellars
Subscription boxes are all the rage these days - just sign up online and get everything from clothes and make-up to food and gadgets delivered to your home on a regular basis. Naturally, where there's a trend, there's booze, and wine subscription boxes are a fun way to try out new wines, with less financial risk than with traditional wine clubs.
Here's why:
- Choice - Most wine subscriptions offer you a choice in what wine you get, either giving you a quiz to match their wines with your personal taste, or letting you preview the wines and switch out the ones you don't want - or both!
- Quality Guarantee - The guarantee on wines and shipping is much better than you find with wine retailers, online or off. Nearly all of them guarantee the quality of their wines on delivery, something regular online retailers won't do. Several of them will not only guarantee the quality of the wine, but guarantee that you'll like it and refund your money if you don't. Try doing that at your local liquor store!
Whether you're a long-time wine lover who knows exactly what you like, or the only thing you know about wine is that it comes in red and white, there's a wine club out there for you.
After roommates Richard Yau and Joe Laurendi earned their undergraduate degrees, they headed separate ways. Yau helped NutraClick, a vitamin and beauty products firm, grow to $65M in revenue during his time as director of business development. Joe Laurendi stayed for a master's degree and prototyped a web-based securities trading platform at Broadway Technology and, after MIT, joined an early-stage social networking startup.
Then last year, they came back together and co-founded a firm that grew out of their MIT experience.
'We knew we wanted to start a business together, as we have very complementary skill sets,' says Yau, the company CEO with MIT degrees in both management and music and arts. 'We entered 6.470 [Independent Activities Period Programming Competition] together and the 100K business plan competition. Our friendship was solidified when I forced him to come to my acapella events - which he enjoyed thoroughly.' Laurendi, company CTO, earned his degrees in mathematics and computer science and engineering.
Their startup, Bright Cellars, is an online wine club that uses a questionnaire and customer feedback to recommend wines, which can be shipped monthly to customers. In May, Bright Cellars graduated from the gener8tor program and relocated to Milwaukee, after the company received early backing from venture fund CSA Partners.
Absolutely the most flexible wine subscription out there, Bright Cellars lets you choose the wine you want based on price point, region, grape variety, and type.
Only want high-end Champagne? You got it. Obsessed with everyday rosé? They'll send you a box of it every month. Want wine from Jura, France's most obscure wine region? There's an option for that, too.
Plus, you can change it up at any time and order special occasion sparklers for the holidays before switching to white wines for whenever. Bright Cellars wine guarantee is the most generous of any wine subscription we've come across - they even let you return unopened bottles!
Unboxing Bright Cellars
The wine arrived in a fairly unassuming brown box. The short side of the box had a round logo with the words 'Bright Cellars Discover wine you love' all in black ink. The long side had a line up of bottles in blue and black and the words 'Discover wine you love'. If I didn't know any better I would think that Bright Cellars is in the business of helping drinkers 'discover' new wines that they will fall in love with. This is definitely a good start to the Bright Cellars experience.
Once the box was opened, a document titled 'Mull It Over' had been laid on top of the cardboard holding the wine. Since the holidays (and inevitable cold weather) are upon us, this piece of paper explained the history, basics, variations, and ingredients for mulled wine. It also detailed a simple spiced mulled wine recipe that will definitely get used at some point this winter. Beneath that is the cardboard packaging. Once removed, two delicately wrapped bottles are unveiled beneath. Under that is more cardboard and two more bottles.
All in all, the packaging is simple and elegant while also holding all four bottles firmly in place with no potential for leaking or spilling.
Cost
The cost for all four bottles is $60 (plus shipping and handling) per month. For anyone who spends way too long walking around a wine store only to end up picking the same bottle every week, this is well worth the money. $60 for four bottles means that you are paying only $15 per bottle. With the added bonus, that Bright Cellars has selected these wines for you and it is not a wildcard pick based on the cool label in the store.
You could take five minutes to complete the quiz or spend twenty minutes trying to describe that random bottle of Pinot Grigio to a complete stranger at a wine store in hopes that they'll have an idea of what other wines you might also enjoy. Chances are, they'll just get annoyed with you and tell you to buy a bottle they personally like that you might end up hating.
How to Subscribe
Signing up for this subscription is easier than filling out an online quiz to figure out which Stranger Things character you are. All you need to do is visit BrightCellars.com and click the 'Get Started' button. This will take you to the 'customize your experience' quiz.
The first question is: What is the one type of chocolate you could eat for the rest of your life? Some of the potential answers include: dark chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, and even Reese's Cup. But, they also leave it open for those of us who prefer fruity candy over chocolate. Other questions include: How do you like your tea? What's your go-to drink (cocktail)? What's your favourite juice? What's your favourite wine pairing? How adventurous are you with new food and drink? Do you have a preference for red or white wines?
After you complete the quiz, you'll be shown your four matches. If they look like wines you might enjoy, just click the 'start your experience now' button. That will take you to a page where you can add your shipping address, credit card details and get started on your monthly (or one time) wine club subscription.
